Weight lifting equipment made in the USA

The Best Strength Machines:
American Made

By Matt Mullins   Last updated: April 29, 2021

If you want the ultimate professional gym equipped with the best selectorized strength machines then you’ve come to the right place. Many fitness brands offer cheaply made imports that don’t last under simple home use, far less under the continuous stress of a commercial gym. This guide helps narrow down the choices to the top quality brands manufacturing strength equipment in the USA.

Best Strength Machines Made in the USA

Precor

Precor manufactures a wide variety of fitness equipment in the USA. This includes premium selectorized and plate loaded strength machines as well as cardio equipment like ellipticals, rowers, treadmills, stationary bikes, and climbers. I have personally used their strength equipment, treadmills, ellipticals, and AMT machines in commercial gyms and highly recommend them from experience. Precor recently built a new state of the art manufacturing facility in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. Where to find them:

Life Fitness - Insignia Series

The Life Fitness strength and fitness machines that I’ve used have all felt excellent. Like other top brands, Life Fitness has an enormous catalog of products but some of those products are not made in the USA. I knew they had manufacturing facilities in the USA, so I called one of their representatives about which products are American made. They told me that their top of the line commercial equipment is made in the USA yet their rowing machines and most cycles are not. Where to find them:

FREEMOTION

Freemotion produces many innovative strength and cardio equipment designs. Like the other brands on my list, I’ve enjoyed every piece of Freemotion equipment that I’ve used. Freemotion is owned by ICON Health and Fitness. Their manufacturing takes place in a factory nestled between the mountains of Logan, Utah, USA where I earned my Masters degree… and worked out using Freemotion equipment. Where to find them:

Cybex

Another great manufacturer whose equipment I regularly use and enjoy. The photo at the top of the page shows Cybex equipment at my current favorite gym. Cybex manufactures over 150 fitness equipment models in two factories located in Franklin Park, Illinois, and Owatonna, Minnesota. Note, Cybex International now belongs to the Life Fitness brand family. Where to find them:

TuffStuff

Last mentioned but certainly not least is TuffStuff manufacturing out of Chino, California, USA. Remember that these brands are not ranked in order. Tuffstuff makes excellent weightlifting equipment for commercial and home gyms. For example, their Six-Pak Trainer is a frequent favorite for home gyms. You really can’t go wrong with any of these great American fitness brands. Where to find them:

Best Gym Flooring

The same 5/16″ rubber flooring found in commercial gyms, this allows you to easily build the ultimate home gym floor in short order. Made of recycled tire rubber, this makes the perfect home gym flooring. Where to find them:

Background: I’ve maintained my fitness at an elite level since getting into lifting and high performance training playing football which progressed with Muay Thai Kickboxing and Hotshot Firefighting. As a result, I have subscribed to a number of gyms over the years which use the brands shown above. If you’re looking for your common phony online list that ranks each product from top to bottom, this isn’t your site. I’m not paid to promote one company over another. All of this equipment is high quality and is widely used in commercial gyms, hotels, cruise ships, and professional home gyms. I’ve tested equipment from every brand here and I’ve been impressed by all of them. Each brand has a good track record of user satisfaction, durability, and customer support.
